Burges Salmon

Employees from leading UK law firm Burges Salmon have been crowned the winners of the first ever Company Challenge at the recent Sanlam Bristol + Bath Marathon, with a combined team time by Matt Kyle, Jeremy Benson, Matthew Brace and Julie Book of 14 hours one minute and 43 seconds.

Businesses entered the Company Challenge, with each overall team time made up of the top four fastest finishers within a mixed male and female team. The prize also included a charity donation, which Burges Salmon has donated to Julian House, which operates more than 20 different projects in the Bristol and Bath area, offering direct support to some of the most marginalised people in society.

Matthew Brace, team member and Burges Salmon employee, said: “We were really pleased to win the Company Challenge and to be able to donate the prize money to Julian House. Tackling the gruelling hills into Bath was tough, but a strong team spirit kept us going so it was especially gratifying to come first.”

Jamie Warren, from the race organiser GO2, said: “Congratulations to the Burges Salmon team who took on the Company Challenge. It’s a great achievement and hugely inspiring to see a team using the challenge to not only introduce more individuals to the sport of running but also fundraise for Julian House. We hope that even more groups and organisations will be inspired by Burges Salmon’s efforts, and join it in taking on the challenge next year.”
